Cabaret – Audience Participation – Workshops
I am sometimes asked to either run a caricature workshop or perform a ‘Cartoon Cabaret’ where the audience can participate. This is a genuinely engaging activity where everybody can have a go at drawing caricatures or individuals can participate by helping me draw somebody.
After watching me demonstrate a simple but effective technique to achieve a cartoon likeness it’s fun to see what guests make of each other. The politest of people can suddenly seem quite impertinent!
After the initial shock of ‘being asked to do something’ guests usually settle to the task with relish and surprising hidden talent.
The workshops are perfect for company fun days, team building events etc. and the cabaret which is shorter is a highly original entertainment for all sorts of small to medium sized events.
If you watch the movie in the right hand sidebar you will see me conducting a short cabaret at a liveley London party. Firstly I coached the guests in technique and then asked them all to make a signed cartoon drawing of the hostess as a personal memento for her. As you can see, fun is had by all and the sheaf of drawings she recieved will bring back happy memories for years to come.
